Oh, let's leave a basket of flowers today
for the little old lady who lives down our way!
We'll heap it with violets white and blue,
with jack-in-the-pulpit and wildflowers too.
We'll make it of paper and line it with ferns
then hide-and we'll watch her surprise when she turns,
and opens her door and looks out to see
who in the world, it could possibly be!

Happy May Day.
I was not going to post this as so many were so alike
but I thought I would anyway as I do love May-day and my basket!

Hi Shirley: Of course you should post it. It is beautiful. I love the little cone, is it tin? And the flowers are very pretty and I love that little poem. Have never heard it before. I love looking for poetry or quotes to match the pictures..Happy May Day..Judy

So glad you posted this! This is so sweet and the love your little May day bouquet!
I am glad that you shared with us! A fellow teacher had May baskets on our doors early this morning before school. It was so delightful to find them there. Happy May Day to you.♥♫
I love your basket, too, Shirley. I love the idea of leaving a pretty basket on someone's door. I am seriously thinking of doing this for my friends and neighbors next year. Thank you for reminding me what May Day is all about. Enjoy the rest of your week, kind friend! Vicki
