What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning.
The African Violet Show and Sale was held today at our Botanical Garden, Tower Hill.
I'm so not a good houseplant care giver, but I managed to fall in love and bought 6 plants.
I'm going to try real hard to keep them alive.
None of the one's I bought are shown here.
I used a 60mm macro lens to capture these pretty little gems up close.
There must be over a hundred different names for Violet's.
I wanted them all! If I can keep the one's I bought alive I will be so thrilled.

I love violets Shirley, I think the trick to start is to get those special pots made for violets, a friend of mine got me one for Christmas and it is wonderful, it drinks water from the bottom of the pot.
Enjoy they sure are all beautiful.

How beautiful they all are!
Beautiful, Shirley. I'm sure you can keep them alive. I think you have a green thumb. laurie
The violets are so pretty, just don't over water or they roots will rot. Also, water from the bottom so the leaves won't get wet. Other than filtered sun, I don't know what they like. I enjoyed mine when I had them, but then got busy in life and my cat likes to sit on the spot where I could grow them in this house, so don't have any now. Your camera must be a good one. I'm a little green.♥♫
So pretty each of them! Soft and delicate.
Wow. This is gorgeous series of photos! Love especially the firs one. Just lovely lovely lovely!!! :)
Those are some of the most beautiful African Violets I have ever seen! Enjoy them :)
Your photos are beautiful Shirley, and I hope you have great success with the violets you bought. Hope you'll share some photos of them as well! I've been thinking of buying a little pot or two because I don't think they are toxic to cats, but I'm not sure. I suppose my kitties would go crazy and eat them anyway, but I might try one of these days. I miss having plants around! Blessings on your week. Bess
these are beautiful!!
i have never tried to grow them...allergic to all flowers but daffodils!
Shirley,
I hope your African violets bloom well for you. I don't have much of a green thumb indoors, but my flowers outside seem to always do nicely. These flowers are very pretty. There are so many different flowers on friend's blogs right now, and some of them I've never heard of.
Hoping your week is a good one.
Love,
~Sheri
You captured some beauties and I know first hand how finicky they can be.
I like some of the miniatures that are sold - so tiny they look like they belong in a fairy garden.
Those African Violets are really pretty!
I agree with the comment about the special African Violet pots. They give the violets exactly the amount of water needed so they will live and bloom for a long time. Well worth the money.
Have a wonderful day!

They are just beautiful.
They're all wonderful.
Hi Shirley,
Oh, I do love these. They are so soft and pretty! The shell beads had the holes already drilled in them that I used.
Have a great week!
Sherry
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing these lovely photos :)
Que violetas lindas! As fotos ficaram perfeitas!!!
These are lovely Shirley and beautifully photographed! My mother has grown (and sold) african violets for many years (amongst many other plants). Some of these are familiar, others are new to me. Those with the variegated leaves are definitely new to me. I hope yours will thrive!
Hi Shirley. Those violets are so beautiful. You really did justice by them with your photos. I'm like you, I love them and have had them in the past, but, hope I don't jinx you, but I couldn't keep them alive. I also have a terrible track record with house plants..Happy Wednesday..Judy
